Tuesday Asks!

There you go :) They’ll be nothing compared to the kind of work your used to seeing but hey ho. The concept of the second one is taking the r which is the main concept of the name (obviously) multiplying it, flipping it, then putting them side by side to create a shirt like symbol, I used the * (which is usually related to “swearing”) above it to create a head sorta?
you don’t have to actually pick one, even just a bit of constructive criticism would be cool. Much appreciated dude :)
Ah they look really good! I think you need to be careful with using some of the rounds on your letters because sometimes they take a little bit away from your designs.
I like the 4th one down in the black box, but try playing with the placement of the asterix, perhaps bringing it to the front, play with the size and colour too. Black and white is good, and any good logo should work just in that, but try using cyan and magenta in conjunction with the black and white too!
looking good though!
misterhessu asked: Hehe, I have a kind of random question..
You’re a lecturer, so what advice would you give to someone who is going to have this lecture-thing, or more like a presentation about an internet community he is running? The place is this fiction/anime con here, where I live. So any advice or tips for doing this for the first time?
Ah wow, well done you!
I think the best thing you can do is prepare well. Preparation of the presentation is key, make sure you know what you want to say, and the key points you want to cover. Give the presentation a start, middle and an end - just like if you were writing an essay. Introduce the subjects, and use the middle to get across the key content. Use the end to summarise points and give the chance for questions or feedback.
Be confident in what you are saying, and if you are scared or nervous don’t worry! Give yourself a moment to think, and relax.
If it helps run through your presentation to friends or family, and just be yourself, because that would usually allow you to be natural, and give you the most confidence.
Good luck and let us know how it goes!
Anonymous asked: So as a lecturer and designer any advice you would give to someone about to start there degree?
Also where do you lecture :D
I think the biggest advice I could give anyone who is about to start their degree is to stay true to yourself as a designer, and don’t fall into the trap of ‘designing for the moment’.
What I mean by that is that you see many students who will design stuff that is so ‘of the moment’ and similar to other things out there, that when they finally leave uni and need to design commercially, they can’t do it because they have no style of their own.
Also, keep looking at design, keep abreast of how things change, why they change etc etc.
And the biggest thing is to always talk to each other about design - share ideas and concepts and always work that extra little bit, because that extra little bit of work will get you so much further in the industry!
And I lecture at the moment in Worcester :)
therhumboogie asked: How did you become so popular in the design community on here? Oh, and on a side note, you are far too attractive to be a lecturer, all of your students must fancy you, haha.
I didn’t realise I was that popular in the design community on here!
I think if anything it is probably because i’m quite an honest designer, and I absolutely love it! So whatever you see on here is a real reflection on myself as both a person and a designer. I love designing still, and I love inspiring others to enjoy design, and be creative themselves.
And noooo all my students know what a goof I am and I think that I am probably the most unattractive guy they know lol!
well except for James…..he loves me. ;)
Anonymous asked: I really like you - your personality, the way you design, your feelings, and yeah it helps your GORGEOUS…. but I could never approach someone so wow….. just wanted to tell you.
Someone so wow?
I really think that if people met me in real life they would be so so disappointed.
Anonymous asked: How come your single? are you looking for a female companion?
Well there was a post a while back about the circumstances of why i’m single, but other than that I think I am just scared now of relationships, because I just feel as if i’m going to fuck them up.
But if the right person comes along…
never going to happen
Anonymous asked: What sort of girls do you look for?!?! Let’s face it… you are GORGEOUS!
haha thanks!
totally disagree though :p
well my top 10 celeb crushes I discussed with my friend are here
But honestly i’m the fussiest person ever!
You need Jesus in your life.

Have you ever smoked weed? It doesn’t solve the problems but it definitely makes things seems a little bit brighter :D

haha no I haven’t - I couldnt even if I wanted to, I wouldnt be able to afford it lol!
You say you have nothing to show for your 27 years, but surely personal development is greater than any personal possession? Think of all the books you’ve read, people you’ve met, experiences you have had, all those lessons you have learned. You’re a lecturer, you might have just left a footprint on one of your students lives and inspired them. Surely that is a greater achievement than having a mercedes benz?

Personal development is very rewarding, but the entire problem is that you get that reward, and the chance to appreciate it for about a few weeks before the grind starts again.
I’m not a real materialistic person, I don’t really want for much, but when you’ve worked from 13, so in fact I have been working for over half of my life, I would have liked to have something more to show for it. I want to travel, but can’t because I don’t have the money, I don’t have the friends to go with me - have you tried travelling alone? It gets reaaaaaal lonely, quickly. At the moment there is nothing exciting nor positive around my life, and that is what grinds you down.
I don’t want to be thinking all this still when im 37, 47 etc…I’ve been feeling it for like 3 years now, and it doesn’t look like anything is going to change anytime soon.
Thanks though, I totally see you point and like I say agree with it :)
